My hero is my mother, Lynn. She just wrote a book, My Shack, detailing her sexual assault experience and how she overcame that as well as other hardships in her life. She is a resilient, strong, brave, beautiful and bold woman and I am so proud of her. When the book releases in a few weeks, she will be doing talks in schools to empower young people and educate them. She was born and raised in Athlone and brought herself out of poverty. Now, she is still happily married for 20 years and has two children (myself and my brother, Noah). She is a trailblazer and she is empowering her community. She is a hero to not only myself and my family, but plenty of other people as well whose lives she has touched.
