Today I would like to nominate my wife, Heidre Davids, a child care and protection social worker at the Department of Social Development Bellville. I have not seen my wife so much in her element since she started working at the department. My wife works with the vulnerable, puts her all in her work to care and protect the children of our country. From removals, in very difficult circumstances to placing in foster care, reuniting kids with their families and even ensuring parents to co-operate for the sake of the children concerned, I see my wife as a hero in this regard. She does it with so much love, passion, compassion and dedication. Being a mother to our three wonderful children, I believe this motivates her more in delivering excellent services to the community. After work, she will always say "today i used my family, my past, to make an example and a difference in someone's life". Through the covid 19 pandemic, she has been a frontline worker, assessing families for the covid 19 food parcels and also delivering them with her colleagues to the different clients they serve. My wife serves her community with pride, even though social workers do not get the honour that they should for doing this work. You really need to be cut out for this job. My wife, Heidre, she was born for this job. I salute you for not only being my wife and wonderful mother to our children, but also being a mother to those children in need, vulnerable children and a light in the parents ' lives who struggles with their drug abusing children. We love you our SOCIAL WORK HERO!
